Sanjay Leela Bhansali set to make OTT debut with Heeramandi on Netflix
Sanjay Leela Bhansali will make his first web series for Netflix. Titled Heeramandi, it stars Manisha Koirala and Sonakshi Sinha.
Netflix will host filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series, a star-studded saga titled Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, in 2024.
Hailed as the grandest and most-awaited series of the year, the creative visionary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to unveil his 14-year passion project in collaboration with Netflix to global audiences.
The series promises to profoundly celebrate art, culture, beauty, and Bhansali’s legacy.
The series’ cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

The plot goes somewhat like this: In the midst of a power struggle in Heeramandi, a young heir caught in the crossfire chooses love over succession, disrupting the status quo. Set in pre-independent India against a burgeoning freedom movement, the final thread holding the art of tawaif (courtesans) is put to the test.
