Paytm CEO Criticizes iPhone 16 Camera Quality, Considers Switch to Google Pixel

Paytm’s co-founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma has publicly criticized the camera performance of the iPhone 16, sparking a broader discussion about Apple’s recent smartphone offerings. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sharma expressed his frustration with what he perceives as a decline in iPhone camera quality.

“I am surprised how the iPhone killed its camera (software / app) so badly in 16. It is so bad that I am seriously thinking of a Pixel now. Anyone else going through the same struggles?” Sharma wrote.

His comments have resonated with other tech users, including former Google executive Parminder Singh, who agreed that “Something’s seriously wrong with either the camera or the app.” The discussion has highlighted growing concerns about Apple’s recent innovations, with several users suggesting that competing devices now offer superior photography features.

One user compared the iPhone 16’s camera performance with the Samsung S24 Ultra, noting that while the iPhone excels in video recording, it struggles with night photography. The Samsung device was praised for its superior photo quality and editing capabilities.

The criticism extends beyond camera performance, with some users suggesting that Apple’s innovation has stagnated since the iPhone 6. “iPhone 6 was the last innovative model. The recent ones feel more glamorous than technically groundbreaking,” one user commented.

Looking ahead, reports indicate that Apple is addressing hardware concerns in its upcoming iPhone 17 series, expected to launch in September 2025. The new models will reportedly feature improved heat management systems, including heat sinks and a Vapor Chamber uniform heat plate dissipation system. These improvements follow the overheating issues experienced with the iPhone 15 series in 2023, which Apple previously addressed through a software update.

Edelweiss CEO Radhika Gupta joined the conversation, praising the Google Pixel’s performance.

The discussion highlights a potential shift in consumer sentiment among high-profile tech users, who have traditionally been loyal to Apple’s ecosystem. The debate raises questions about Apple’s current position in the smartphone market and whether competitors like Google Pixel and Samsung are gaining ground in key areas like camera technology.
