Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel to No Longer Feature Previews or Reviews of CSK Matches
Ashwin’s channel suspends CSK match coverage after guest criticizes team selection, sparking fan backlash amid IPL 2025 slump

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel has officially announced that it will no longer feature previews or reviews of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) matches for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The move comes in the wake of social media backlash following comments made by a guest on the channel, which were seen as critical of CSK’s team decisions.
The controversy was ignited during an episode featuring Prasanna Agoram, a well-known cricket analyst and former performance consultant for the South African national team and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Agoram had questioned CSK’s decision to include Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad in the playing XI despite having seasoned Indian spinners like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. He suggested that an additional batsman might have been a more strategic choice.
These comments coincided with a rough patch for CSK, marked by three consecutive defeats. This included a historic home loss to RCB—their first since 2008—and another rare defeat at home against Delhi Capitals, which last happened in 2010. Currently, CSK finds itself near the bottom of the points table with just two points from four games, adding to the scrutiny.
In response to the online criticism, Ashwin’s channel issued a statement clarifying that guests’ opinions do not reflect the cricketer’s personal views. However, to avoid further misinterpretation and preserve the channel’s integrity, the team has suspended all CSK-related content, including match previews and reviews.
Ashwin’s YouTube channel has become a well-regarded platform among cricket fans, known for its candid insights and expert discussions. With a loyal following, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the sport that few other outlets provide. Yet this episode highlights modern athletes’ complexities in balancing their media presence with professional affiliations, particularly in a sport as passionately followed as cricket.
While the decision may disappoint some fans, it underlines Ashwin’s intent to keep his digital content respectful and controversy-free, especially when it involves a franchise with which he shares a long-standing history.
