Poonam Pandey Succumbs To Cervical Cancer ; Fans Stunned

Poonam Pandey, actor and social media personality, passed away this morning. She was suffering from cervical cancer, say reports.

The 32-year-old, best known for her modelling and strong social media presence, bravely fought against the disease before passing away.

Poonam Pandey’s team took to her social media account and shared the news. “This Morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that have lost our beloved Poonam Pandey to cervical cancer. Every living form that came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief. We would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we share.” (sic)

She was a beacon of strength and resilience

Nikita Sharma, Poonam’s manager, shared the heartbreaking news, stating, “Poonam Pandey was not only a luminary in the film industry, but she was also a beacon of strength and resilience.”

Speaking to Hauterrfly, the actress’ manager said, “Her unwavering spirit amidst her health struggles was truly remarkable.”

As we come to terms with the loss, Poonam’s passing compels us all to recognize the critical need for increased awareness and proactive measures against preventable diseases like cervical cancer.

Poonam Pandey’s rise to fame

Born in Kanpur on 11 March, 1991, Poonam Pandey was a multifaceted personality, known not only for her work in the entertainment industry, she debuted in Bollywood with the 2013 film Nasha. She was also known for her vibrant presence on social media platforms, commanding over 1.3 million followers on X, and an equal number on Instagram. She was last seen on screen in Lock Upp Season One, the reality show.

Poonam Pandey was no stranger to controversies

In 2011, Poonam Pandey wrote a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that she would strip if India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. However, the BCCI did not allow her to do so.

In 2020, during the nation wide lockdown, Poonam went out for a walk with her husband Sam and was arrested by the Mumbai Police for violating the rules.

Later in 2021, Poonam Pandey accused her husband Sam of assault. She also complained to the police, following which Sam was arrested. Poonam Pandey revealed in Kangana Ranaut’s show Lock Upp that Sam used to beat her.

In 2017, Poonam Pandey launched an app, Pandey App. But because of the bold content, the app was allegedly banned by Google from the Play Store within an hour.

Active till the last, Poonam had posted a video from an event just this Monday. She had been vocal about the need to promote Indian islands as tourist destinations when the controversy over Maldives as a tourist destination broke out, and had unfurled a saffron flat at home and posted on social media when the Ram Mandir consecration took place in January.
