Ranveer Brar’s Dal With 24-Carat Gold Tadka Shocks Netizens; Video Goes Viral
Popular celebrity chef and restaurateur Ranveer Brar is making headlines after serving dal with a 24-carat gold tadka.
Yes, MasterChef India judge Ranveer Brar is serving a special dal at his restaurant in Dubai. It’s served in a wooden chest and instead of tempered spices, powdered 24-carat gold is added to it making this arguably the most expensive dal in the world.
The special dish known as ‘Dal Kashkan’ is one of the restaurant’s exclusive food items and is priced at 58 dirhams (about ₹ 1,300).
A video of ‘Dal Kashkan’ was shared by Mehul Hingu on Instagram. In the video, the server at the restaurant shows the gold dust placed in a bowl. He then carefully adds it to the dal which is prepared with premium spices and ghee and is kept in a wooden box. The server also explains the speciality of the dish to the customer. The caption of the video reads, “”24 Carat Golden Tadke Wali Dal at Kashkan by Ranveer Brar, Dubai Festive City Mall”.
The video has already received more than 16 million views and the numbers are still increasing. The share has also received lakhs of likes and numerous comments.
However, netizens have argued that gold ‘does not absorb in the body,’ and added, ‘it’s an extra way of pooping’.
One of the users wrote, “Toh dal khaani hai ya tijori mein rakhni hai”, another commented “Welcome to heavy metal poisoning,”
More comments read “Try radium ka tadka next time”, “Insan din par din pagal hota ja raha hai”

However, the most important question is, is it safe to eat? As per reports, many people showed their concern about the edibility of gold. Assuring you that it is an edible gold when taken as a garnish or decorative element, it is deemed safe for consumption in smaller quantities. It is not absorbed by the digestive system. However, the consumption of this dal in large quantities is still not advisable due to a lack of comprehensive research on its long-term effects. Most importantly, its negligible nutritional benefits.
What are your thoughts on this video? Will you ever give it a try?
