15 years of YouTube in India: Fanfest 2023

YouTube is marking its 15th anniversary in India. Back in 2008, YouTube introduced its localized version for the Indian audience. Since then, Indian creators have ventured into new realms of creative expression, making significant strides. At its inception, YouTube in India coincided with a period when households were gaining increased access to entertainment, including a burgeoning film and music industry, as well as the arrival of international TV channels.

The YouTube Fanfest India 2023 is scheduled to take place at NESCO, Mumbai, on September 27th at 7:30 pm IST. Recognizing its soaring popularity, YouTube organized its inaugural fan fest in India in 2014 and unveiled the YouTube Kids app in 2016. Additionally, in 2019, the company introduced YouTube Music in India. Over the past fifteen years, YouTube has been a witness to transformations in popular culture, evolving viewer expectations, and the exploration of creative boundaries, both in terms of geographical diversity and innovative content.
