Anjali Arora Will Portray Sita In Shri Ramayan Katha

Social media sensation Anjali Arora is all set to make her debut on the big screen. The actor, known for her presence in reality show Lock Upp, has been roped in to play Sita in Abhishek Singh’s directorial Shri Ramayan Katha.

In a recent interview with ETimes, Anjali said she is feeling ‘blessed’ to portray Sita. The actor also revealed her initial curiosity about landing the role, mentioning that she was informed by the director that she was competing with a few other actors. However, the makers ultimately selected her for the role. Additionally, Anjali shared that since being finalized for the role last month, she has been diligently watching videos and attending workshops to prepare for the character.

“If I am compared to a Bollywood actress, I will be happy”

On the other hand, fans are eagerly anticipating Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan,’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Ram and Sita respectively. Since both films are based on the Hindu epic, Anjali Arora acknowledged that her performance will inevitably be compared to Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita in Ramayan. However, she also expressed her contentment at being compared to an established actor, stating, “If I am compared to a Bollywood actress, I will be happy.”

My social media image has nothing to do with my acting

Anjali Arora garnered a significant social media following with 13.1 mn followers on Instagram. She became popular after her dance videos went viral, followed by her participation in the reality show Lock Upp. During the interview, she addressed concerns about whether her social media persona might influence audience perception as she portrays Sita in Shri Ramayan Katha. While acknowledging that she cannot alter anyone’s perspective towards her, she emphasized her dedication to honing her character. Anjali also recognized the inevitability of trolls and their right to express their views, she shared, “I can’t change people’s mindsets. As an actor, I commit to every character I am offered with full conviction. Besides, we can’t stop trolls, as they believe they have the right to criticize us. My social media image has nothing to do with my acting and won’t affect my performance; I aim to prove myself instead of seeking validation from others.”

In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, KGF star Yash is also likely to play Ravana in the movie whereas Sunny Deol has reportedly been locked for the role of Hanuman. Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks for the roles of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively. It was recently reported that Amitabh Bachchan has been finalized for the role of King Dashrath in the movie. However, there is o official confirmation regarding this as of now.
