My Top 5 K-dramas of 2024: Here's What You Need To Go Watch!

As a K-drama enthusiast, 2024 has already delivered some incredible series that have kept me glued to the screen. Here are my top five picks that you might want to catch up on, if you haven’t already!

Love Next Door

“Love Next Door” captured my heart with Jung Hae-in’s portrayal of Choi Seung-hyo, an architect carrying the weight of his past. His chemistry with Jung So-min’s career-driven character is effortless. What I love most about this show is how it explores the complexity of reconnecting with childhood friends, blending nostalgia with present-day realities. The series perfectly balances light-hearted moments with deeper emotional undertones.

Marry My Husband

“Marry My Husband” took all of us on an incredible revenge journey with Park Min-young’s character Ji-won. The premise of traveling back in time after being betrayed by both husband and best friend had me hooked from episode one. What makes this show special is watching Ji-won navigate her second chance at life, armed with knowledge of the future. The satisfaction of seeing her outsmart her betrayers while finding unexpected romance made this one of the must-watch K-dramas for me.

When The Phone Rings

“When the Phone Rings” stands out with its unique pairing of Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin. As someone who loves political dramas with a twist, watching this “show window” couple’s perfect marriage unravel due to mysterious phone calls kept me on the edge of my seat. The way it explores communication and secrets in relationships adds layers of depth to what could have been a simple mystery. And for anyone who’s about to start this series, there’s still 2 episodes yet to be released!

A Virtuous Business

“A Virtuous Business” broke new ground in K-drama territory with its bold premise. Following four rural women starting an adult toy business might sound controversial, but the show handled the subject matter with such grace and authenticity. I was impressed by how it balanced breaking taboos with heartwarming character development.

Lovely Runner

Finally, “Lovely Runner” stole the show for me this year. The time-travel romance element had Byeon Woo-Seok’s fans swooning! I found myself completely invested in whether the leads could change their fate. I have to admit, I would watch any show with this male lead. But the show itself was very well-told, you’re not left confused despite the constant page-turning from the past to the present. And the soundtrack? You’ll end up adding all the songs to your playlist even if you don’t understand a word.

While all five dramas deserve praise for their innovative storytelling, “Lovely Runner” has a special place in my heart. There’s something about time-travel romances that gets me every time, especially when paired with such stellar acting. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some episodes to rewatch while waiting for the next must-watch K-dramas to drop!
