Rakhi Sawant In Trouble: Former Officer Sameer Wankhede Sues Her For Defamation

Rakhi Sawant-The Reelstars

Entertainer and social media personality Rakhi Sawant has landed herself in trouble. Former Narcotics Bureau officer Sameer Wakhende has moved to the court with a defamation case against Rakhi Sawant, and her lawyer Kaashif Ali Khan (Munmun Dhamecha’s lawyer) alleging that the two made defamatory comments on him. Khan represented Munmun in the drugs bust case.

It all started after Ali Kaashif Khan gave an interview to a news channel where he said things about Sameer Wankhede. Sameer has now acted on it and said it’s a deliberate lie and baseless. Sameer said Khan called him ‘media obsessed’ and accused him of targeting celebrities. Wankhede said that during his time as a government officer he always did his job honestly.

As per the reports, Sameer Wakhende has filed a lawsuit worth Rs 11 lakh in the Dindoshi civil court. He has also requested a restraining order to prevent them from making any statements, comments, or remarks against him.

Wankhede said that the entire statement was not only a deliberate lie but also a fabricated, false, and unfounded defamatory remark made to defame his reputation.

However, reacting to the lawsuit, Kashif Ali Khan reportedly said, “The law interprets that there is no defamation when truth has been spoken for public good. The second exception in Section 499 of IPC talks about the ‘Public conduct of public servants’. It is not defamation to express in good faith any opinion whatever respecting the conduct of a public servant in the discharge of his public functions, or respecting his character, so far as his character appears in that conduct, and no further.”

He further added, “Now, since the matter is sub judice before the court, we will give a befitting reply and fight it out. If he proves his case beyond a reasonable doubt, I will pay him Rs 11 lakh.”

Rakhi Sawant is evading in Dubai for the past few months as her ex-husband Adil Khan Durrani, who is now married to Bigg Boss 12 fame Somi Khan, has registered an FIR against Rakhi and she is expected to get arrested if she returns to India.
