Heeramandi flash mob performance at Marine Drive goes viral on Instagram
Actor Aditi Rao Hydari took to Instagram on Monday morning to reveal that the sequel to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi could be just around the corner. Posting a flash mob performance of the ‘Sakal Ban’ song recreated. Furthermore, by the actors on Mumbai’s Marine Drive, Aditi quipped “Nuff said! Enjoy this season 2 announcement with this super fun flash mob till then!”
Within an hour, the post went viral with over 33000 likes. The Heeramandi flash mob performance was shot at Mumbai’s promenade with an audience in attendance. However, capturing the intricate dance steps of the performers on their camera phones, with the Arabian sea in the background.
Heeramandi Flash Mob Stuns Mumbai
Heeramandi has generated a lot of buzz among viewers since it first dropped on Netflix on May 1, 2024. The series stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta and Taha Shah Badussha. It has received mixed reviews, but the song and the performance appear to have caught viewers’ fancy. Within a month, news that a second season was in the works has been confirmed. It is Aditi’s post that has sealed the news, and a date could soon be announced.
To the uninitiated, the vibrant yellow costumes worn in the Sakal Ban dance are an ode to the Basant Panchmi festival celebrated at Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin. However, Auliyas Dargah by his followers started by his pupil Hazrat Ameer Khusro in 12-13th century.
