Modi Met Kamath and Social Media Can’t Keep Calm!

Analysing the anticipation around Lex Fridman's podcast and the mixed reactions from both supporters and critics to Modi's podcast venture!

The podcast had mixed reactions from the viewers and the general public. Supporters praised Modi’s ability to connect with a younger, tech-savvy audience. And his effort to present India’s aspirations on a modern platform. Critics, however, viewed it as an orchestrated attempt to enhance his image. They highlighted, that rather than addressing pressing issues like taxation, unemployment or inflation the podcast had information only his Bakths would fancy!

Supportive Reactions

“Mein dost khoj raha tha, unko mukhyamantri nazar aa rha tha.” Among all the interviews that Prime Minister Modi has given, I’ve never seen him this vulnerable. This was one of the major highlights of the podcast. Excellent conversation, Nikhil.
The talk should be politicians from all sides talking openly of what they think about different aspects of society & life. A discussion is way better than traditional interviews. It’s good to see #PMModi having adopted the form of long discussions. Every politician will have to go through long interviews/podcasts etc to stay relevant in public life. Communication is an art in politics & this is the way forward.
Politics se Policy tak… Podcast with People’s PM @NarendraModi
!
Kudos to the unconventional podcasting Thanks for getting in the remarkable leader, the pioneer of New India
Some podcasts you just listen. And there are some podcasts you need to listen and think internally about them, to finally get answers. The @nikhilkamathcio x @narendramodi is one where you will find value when you try to internalise the discussion.
This is another exemplary one from Nikhil, you are hell bent on disrupting this space too Learning’s at multiple levels for everyone. Thanks for this brother.
Nikhil Kamath’s podcast with PM Modi was super interesting, especially his take on Godhra.
Just finished watching this 2 hour long podcast. Loved it! This is the first time I actually got to know about Modi Ji more deeply. Thank you @nikhilkamathcio for making this happen and lots of respect for Modi Ji for accepting this.
Sounds like a great discussion! Excited to hear insights from the PM on the journey from politics to effective policy.

The Not-So-Supportive Reactions

यह बात वह व्यक्ति बोल रहे है जिन्होंने आठ महीने पहले ही ख़ुद को परमात्मा का स्वयंभू अवतार घोषित किया था। यह स्पष्ट रूप से डैमेज कंट्रोल है। (This is coming from a man who just eight months ago declared himself to be the self-proclaimed incarnation of God. This is clearly damage control.)
Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath, in a September 2023 podcast, highlighted falling consumption in India and reduced his equity holdings by 14%. But he didn’t bring it up with PM Modi in his recent podcast.
Modi’s podcast is boring because wahi same baatein 10 saal se repeat ho rahi without any outcome. Wahi hamesha bakri ki tarah ‘mei mei mei …’
From God to human in flat 10 months! That’s the power of people!

not sure the hype behind WTF podcast b/w Modi and Kamath – tbh found it very cringe !!
Pahle aap nikal lo.
PM Narendra Modi talks about the need to step out of comfort zones on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast: ‘Anyone who wants to progress…’
@nikhilkamathcio must have no spine to question Modi about slowing economy as he did scripted Podcast to make emperor happy, reason being Nikhil Kamath now wants Bank License.
Narendra Modi loosing big time since 2024. He sees Trump and other world leaders going to podcast and emulates them. But Trump chose Joe Rogan. The best!!! And he end up with some Nikhil Kamath who is so awful Couldn’t go beyond 15-20 minutes and stopped watching.
could just be me, but the whole podcast with modi was very superficial. no real substance and in depth discussion. compare that with trump on JRE or anything. feels like our PM doesn’t know or doesn’t want us to know about the real things.

Narendra Modi-Lex Fridman’s Podcast: What to Expect?

The buzz about Lex Fridman potentially hosting Narendra Modi has further fueled curiosity. Fridman, known for his deep, philosophical discussions with experts ranging from AI researchers to thought leaders, could offer a unique setting for Modi to share his perspectives.

I will be doing a podcast with Narendra Modi (@narendramodi), Prime Minister of India, at the end of February. I’ve never been to India, so I’m excited to finally visit and experience many facets of its vibrant, historic culture and its amazing people as fully as I can.

Dhruv Rathee’s Take: A Satirical Prediction

Dhruv Rathee humorously speculates on the types of questions Fridman might pose. Critics like Rathee argue that Modi might steer clear of tough, probing questions, while supporters believe the conversation could elevate India’s image on a global stage.

LEAKED Script of this podcast:
Lex: I heard you were a tea seller
Modi: Main ek gareeb ghar, main bechara, meri ma bachpan mein..
Lex: You’ve achieved a lot in your career
Modi: Waise Toh Jeewan mein jo kiya ache intention se kiya hai, kabhi galti hui lekin main bhi insan hi hun
Lex: Your opponents criticize you for this and this
Modi: Log mujhe bahut gaaliyan dete hai, modi ko gaali dena fashion ban gaya hai. Lekin meri energy 100% hamesha kaam par hoti hai
What People Expect
Did his very first podcast with @nikhilkamathcio
(the #1 most reputed podcaster of India) and now his 2nd podcast with the one and only @lexfridman
! Love him or hate him but you can’t deny the genius of PM Narendra Modi. Insanely good at what he does and how fast he adapts.
I can’t imagine this podcast to not be unscripted. I wanna know on what basis is Modi’s media team deciding which podcasts to go on both choices so far have been very strange
Ask him serious question , as a Modi fan he always uses scripted podcast to influence and i know it will be same for you as well. Nobody ask hik tough question of countries , road ,taxes everybody ask him what was your childhood like , do you have crush on italian PM.

A Strategic Move by Modi or a Double-Edged Sword to Modi?

Narendra Modi’s podcast ventures represent a significant shift in political communication, blending traditional leadership with modern outreach. While his debut with Nikhil Kamath and the upcoming session with Lex Fridman has sparked intrigue, they have also reignited debates about the role of political leaders in such formats.

Ultimately, whether one views these podcasts as a bold step forward or an exercise in image management depends largely on individual perspectives and political leanings.
