“I’m Only Human, Not God”

The episode started with Kamath admitting his heart about hosting the PM and apologising for his “bad Hindi.” He said, “I am South Indian.” Kamath explained that his roots are from Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangalore. The Prime Minister, known for his empathy, assured him with a smile, saying, “Hum dono ki aise hi chalegi” (We’ll manage together). Modi’s said, “Mistakes happen, and I, too, can make some. I am also a human, not god.”

Tales from Childhood to Politics

Modi opened up about his childhood, recalling simple yet profound moments that shaped him. “I used to wash the clothes of all my family members. Because of that, I was allowed to go to the pond,” he shared, reflecting on the value of responsibilities and small joys in life. From there, the conversation seamlessly transitioned to his entry into politics, his setbacks, and how he managed stress while navigating public life.

The Social Media Shift & Politics

Most of the discussion revolved around the changing face of criticism and the overpowering of social media in politics in the digital age. Kamath asked, “How has social media reshaped political narratives compared to pre-digital times?” Modi responded with wisdom wrapped in humour, narrating a story from Ahmedabad about a scooter rider who stayed calm despite being verbally abused. When questioned about his calmness, the rider replied, “He’s just giving me abuses, not taking anything away.” The PM used this story to highlight his approach to criticism: staying grounded in truth and maintaining a clear conscience. There are countless other stories and moments like these that you simply cannot miss.

Facing Criticism and Being Sensible

As such a huge public speaker, Modi thoroughly addressed the harsh criticisms he faced. “I’m okay if they are verbally abusing me,” he said, emphasising that criticism should be based on truth and not meanness. For Modi, sensitivity is a perk of public life. “In politics, you must approach challenges with a sense of service. Without sensitivity, one cannot help people effectively,” he explained, advocating for a compassionate approach to leadership.

What’s PM Modi’s Vision for India?

The Prime Minister shared his ideas for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047. His vision is universal access to necessities like toilets, water, and electricity, delivered seamlessly through government schemes. Modi sees AI, not as artificial intelligence, but Aspirational India, as the driving force behind this transformation. Reflecting on India’s rising global influence, he recalled a 2005 prediction: “One day, the world will stand in line for an Indian visa.” Today, he believes that vision is becoming a reality.

Everything has a First Time!

The podcast, released on the YouTube channel People by WTF, showcased Modi’s lighter and humble yet thoughtful side. From sharing jokes about children asking how he sees himself on TV to reflecting on public criticism, the PM balanced humour and seriousness. Despite his initial worries, Kamath brought out the simple human side of one of the world’s most influential leaders.

A Conversation That Must Stay Forever!

This podcast is more than just an interview. Whether you are a student, a homemaker, a professional, a freelancer, or a businessperson, you could be anyone, and everyone must watch this episode. Despite the complexities of his role, Modi’s ability to connect is a reminder that leadership is as much about listening as it is about talking and leading. As the PM said, “In every aspect of life, friction exists.” But his calm demeanour and focus on service make it clear that leadership isn’t about being perfect but about being human.
