Poonam Pandey In Trouble; FIR And Rs 100 Crore Defamation Lawsuit
Poonam Pandey lands in trouble as she gets slapped with an FIR and defamation lawsuit over faking her death.
Poonam’s staged “demise” on 2 February 2024, and her revelation the next day that she was alive and well, was orchestrated by Hauterrfly, a Fork Media branch that calls itself the ‘millennial woman’s space’. Interestingly, it’s tagline on social media reads – Unapologetic | Proud | Opinionated.
The entire exercise was part of an initiative called #DeathToCervicalCancer meant to draw attention and raise awareness about cervical cancer, how it can be prevented and red flags one should guard against. While it was her ‘team’ that had posted a note about her ‘death due to cervical cancer’.
Later, Poonam herself in an Instagram video that surfaced the next day, said that she was alive but that it took her staged death to focus attention on the disease.

The stunt received significant backlash, with many criticizing Pandey for exploiting a disease that has caused immense suffering for countless people and families, all for the sake of publicity.
Now, as per the latest developments, Poonam Pandey and husband Sam Bombay are in legal trouble. According to a report by Times of India, the duo has been slapped with a defamation lawsuit to the tune of ₹100 crore over the fake death stunt.
A person named Faizan Ansari lodged an FIR with the Kanpur police claiming that Poonam and Sam conspired to fake her death, trivialized the seriousness of cancer and manipulated the emotions of many. He requested that they both be arrested and produced at a Kanpur court.
“Poonam Pandey and her husband Sameer Bombay have fabricated a false conspiracy of death. Along with this, they have made a joke out of diseases like cancer. Poonam orchestrated the drama for publicity and played with the emotions of millions of Indians and the Bollywood film industry,” read a part of an FIR published by TOI. In the same report, Faizan Ansari also claimed that he’s filing a lawsuit against them for ₹100 crore.
For the uninitiated, Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay got married in September 2020. They later ended the relationship, following which Pandey had claimed that she faced domestic abuse from Bombay.
