‘Follow Toh Kar Lo Yaar’: Uorfi Javed gets her own reality show on Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video is bringing social media sensation Uorfi aka Urfi Javed’s story to screens worldwide with the series “Follow Kar Lo Yaar.” The show dives into the life of the popular influencer, showcasing the highs and lows of her life’s journey so far. Fans, who had so far been fed on a steady diet of Uorfi’s eclectic, sometimes bizarre dress sense that gets her thousands of eyeballs every day, can now get to know the real Uorfi as she ups her game while also keeping her fully dysfunctional family together.
Uorfi’s show is one of the 70 series and movies that have been lined by Prime Video for the next several months, with most premiering on the service over the next 2 years.
“Follow Kar Lo Yaar” shows how Uorfi started on her career and the challenges she faced on her way to stardom including issues from public, media, agencies and her own family.
At the launch of the Prime Video event in Mumbai this week, Uorfi shared why she chose to do the show. Speaking to Karan Johar, Uorfi said, “A lot of people were suggesting me a lot of things. Someone was saying, do a movie, others were saying, ‘do a dating show.’ I was not getting any offers for movies. Though I am not a choreographer, but I was planning my next move. In my personal life, you can find many genres — drama, trauma, love, there’s spice and violence. My life has everything. So I thought, I should do a reality show on my own life.”
Uorfi attended the event wearing a glow-in-the-dark ‘solar system’ dress. Talking a bit about her dress, she said, “I am standing in the middle of a galaxy, because I am the centre of my universe. Two years ago, I took charge of my life, and now I am doing a talk show on Prime Video.”
The show has been produced by Fazila Allana and Kamna Menezes under Sol Productions, directed by Sandeep Kukreja and penned by Anisha Raisurana.
Uorfi gained public recognition for her unique fashion sense and her social media presence in the last couple of years. She began her career with roles in soap operas and rose to fame in 2021 after appearing on Voot’s reality show Bigg Boss OTT 1.
Meanwhile, Uorfi will soon be making her Bollywood debut with Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2. Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 will bring a story of love in the world of the internet where social media has been a major influence. After the news of Tushar Kapoor and Mouni Roy doing a cameo in the film, the makers have revealed that Uorfi Javed will be making her debut on the big screen with Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2.
2024 has started with a bang for Uorfi, who also debuted with her own podcast ‘Uncancellable with Uorfi’ in February. Produced by Collective Artists Network’s Big Bang Social, the podcast will have Uorfi challenging norms, sparking conversations, and celebrating authenticity like only she can. On her show so far, Uorfi has sparred words with Trinetra Haldar, Kusha Kapila and Rohan Joshi.
It would appear that the 26 year old Uorfi is keen to revamp her image in a hurry. From podcast to Bollywood to her very own reality show, the young social media star has packed in much for 2024. How much of it hits pay dirt remains to be seen. Stay clued in to The Reelstars for updates on Uorfi’s journey!
