Street Stall Over Corporate? Viral Videos by Influencer Expose Surprising Earnings of Hawkers
Sarthak Sachdeva's recent videos working at a tea stall and then a vada pao stall leave netizens surprised and shocked!
In a twist that’s stirring up social media and challenging traditional notions of success, Instagram influencer Sarthak Sachdeva has set the internet ablaze with two recent videos. These viral sensations showcase the unexpected earning potential of humble street food vendors, leaving many corporate professionals questioning their career choices (albeit in good humour, but for some).
Chai patti > BBA says Sarthak Sachdeva
Sachdeva’s first video, cheekily captioned “chai patti > BBA,” documented his day manning a tea stall. The results were staggering: after selling 317 cups of tea, he calculated the vendor’s monthly earnings at a whopping 1,10,100 INR, translating to an annual income of 12-14 lakh rupees. This revelation left many degree-holders with measly starting salary packages, particularly those with BBAs, wondering if they’d chosen the wrong path. The reel by Sarthak Sachdeva currently has 93.5 million views!
Netizens were all over the comment sections. Some were considering switching over to a tea stall business with comments like “Why to study then 💀 ??” and “Mummy Mai chai ki dukan khul rahi hun 🙂.” However, many others were quick to point out that the revenue isn’t the same as the profit and factors like location matter a lot. While the video went viral, it can’t be taken as the reality of most tea sellers who really struggle and have other financial issues to consider.
Vada Pao Stall can bring in INR 24 Lakh in a year?!
But Sachdeva wasn’t done yet. His follow-up video, featuring a vada pav seller, sent shockwaves through social media. With over 63.3 million views, the video revealed that this street food entrepreneur was pocketing an impressive 2 lakh rupees monthly, or 24 lakh rupees annually – a figure that rivals many white-collar salaries in India.
In the vada pav video, Sachdeva immersed himself in the daily operations, from preparation to sales. “By mid-morning, we had already sold around 200 vada pavs,” he reported, highlighting the brisk business. By day’s end, 622 vada pavs had been sold at 15 rupees each, totaling 9,300 rupees in daily revenue.
After expenses, the vendor’s take-home pay of approximately 2 lakh rupees monthly has left many corporate workers green with envy. One viewer commented, “Bro is earning more than 90% graduates in India!!☠️” while another joked, “Startup Chodo, Chai aur vadapav ka thela lagavo!”
These videos have ignited a fierce debate about the true value of traditional education versus entrepreneurial spirit in today’s economy. While internet sensations like the “vada pao girl” Chandrika Dixit and Dolly Chaiwala have previously highlighted the potential of street food ventures, Sarthak Sachdeva’s videos suggest that even less-famous vendors might be quietly outearning many office workers.
As the videos continue to circulate, they’re forcing many to reconsider their assumptions about success, education, and the hidden money-makers operating on India’s streets. For some, it’s a wake-up call; for others, it’s inspiration to think outside the box when it comes to career choices. Either way, Sarthak Sachdeva’s viral experiment has undoubtedly added some spice to India’s ongoing conversation about work, worth, and the true ingredients of financial success.
