A Punk-Perfect Night: Vivienne Westwood’s Mumbai Debut Brings Fashion Rebellion

April 1st was no joke, it was all about fashion. Mumbai witnessed a grand showcase by the legendary British fashion house Vivienne Westwood, with the late Queen of Punk seemingly making her presence felt as rain poured over the event.
The capsule collection, crafted with Indian Khadi and wool, stayed true to the label’s signature style. Celebrities, artists, and fashion enthusiasts filled the front row, while the paparazzi had a field night capturing bold, avant-garde looks that, as DietSabya would say, were “Not for Mangoes.”
Kompal Matta Kapoor
Dressed in a white mini outfit from Nour by Neharika, Kompal looked stunning. I’m not sure of the inspiration for the design, but it sure gives an ode to the iconic Cloud dress by Vivienne worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City movie. If Carrie were getting married today, she would surely dress up in this mini version of The Cloud Dress.
Nancy Tyagi
Among everyone who attended, Nancy came closest to touching the punk, rebellious vibe that Westwood is known for. In this self-stitched white gown, Nancy added a hue with quirky feathered elements and clean glam, making the look polished. Yet again, the outfit showcases her talent, which is turning her into a front-row regular for all the most significant events in fashion.

Juhi Godambe
In a custom Karishma Ashita gown, Juhi‘s look is absolute gold. It’s a perfect mix of references to Vivienne’s old corset aesthetic and new chainmail shimmery vibes. It takes a pro to carry a brand aesthetic with personal style, and who better than this OG ReelStar?
Uorfi
If there is a poster child of the avant-garde, punk, and rebellion fashion scene in India, it has to be Uorfi. She was one of the best-dressed of the night and got the memo right for the event. The custom outfit created by Acquire Gallery was on point, and she knocked it out with the custom nails featuring the Vivienne Westwood Logo, ‘The Orb’. It only shows why Urfi has made her mark in the fashion industry.
The event marking the legendary house’s entry in India lacked a bit of that OG Vivienne essence. It was understated, which is what the brand is known for, but our favourite ReelStars served the chaos that the fans of the Queen of Punk loved.
