Anand Mahindra Applauds Dr R.K. Nair, The Man Behind the World’s Largest Miyawaki Forest in India

Anand Mahindra gave a big shoutout to Dr R.K. Nair on X. Sharing a video of the massive forest.

“At a time when the US has taken sustainability off its priority list, I am just grateful that we have such heroes amongst us.”

This post went viral, and netizens from across India appreciated Dr. Nair’s commitment and hard work.

A Forest That Grew Against the Odds

In the heart of Kutch, Gujarat, something magical has taken root, a 470-acre forest filled with over 3 lakh native trees, all thanks to one man’s passion and dedication. Dr. R.K. Nair, an environmentalist and founder of the Enviro Creators Foundation, has brought to life the world’s largest Miyawaki forest. And this is not just a random green patch, it’s a symbol of hope, healing, and future-focused action against climate change.

Who Is Dr R.K. Nair?

Dr. Nair has earned the title “India’s Miyawaki Man,” and rightly so. Since 2014, he has created more than 100 Miyawaki forests across India. His work involves planting trees and restoring ecosystems, reviving biodiversity, and building climate resilience.

The most impactful of his efforts is the Smritivan Miyawaki forest in Kutch. This green space pays tribute to the victims of the 2001 Gujarat earthquake by turning sorrow into strength through nature.

What Is the Miyawaki Method?

The Miyawaki method is a Japanese forest-growing technique created by botanist Akira Miyawaki. It involves planting many native species close together, which helps them grow faster and denser than usual. These forests grow 10 times faster than traditional methods and become self-sustaining within a few years.

This method has helped Dr Nair convert dry, unused land into thick, oxygen-rich forests—a vital step in India’s green future.

Dr Nair’s Green Dream for 2030

Dr Nair has an ambitious but clear goal: planting 100 crore trees by 2030. He aims to make India greener, healthier, and more climate-ready. Through his Enviro Creators Foundation, he invites individuals, industries, and government bodies to join him in this mission.

His work shows that individual efforts, when rooted in purpose, can lead to big environmental changes. It’s not just about planting trees; it’s about planting hope for the future.

If you are someone who cares about the environment, Dr Nair’s journey teaches you “Every tree counts. Every effort matters.”
