Chef Sanjyot Keer Teaches Ed Sheeran To Cook ‘Misal Pav’

English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, recently in Mumbai for a concert, took a quintessential piece of Indian cuisine back with him when he learnt how to cook ‘misal pav’ from YouTuber and chef Sanjyot Keer. From having a successful concert to striking Shah Rukh Khan’s signature pose and partying with B-Town celebs, Sheeran had a ‘perfect’ time in India, capping it with a culinary class with Keer.

Well, it only became possible when chef and internet personality Sanjyot Kheer called him to his studio and taught him to make spicy and tasty misal pav, a typical Maharashtrian dish.

In fact, Keer becomes the first-ever Indian chef and digital creator to prepare an Indian meal with the international music sensation Ed Sheeran. Isn’t that wow?

Sanjyot Keer is wellknown for his unique recipes and culinary skills, and was the food producer for the television cookery show, MasterChef India. Keer has featured in the list of Forbes India’s Tycoons of Tomorrow 2018.

Keer shared the video on his YouTube channel ‘Your Food Lab’ where he is seen guiding Ed Sheeran to cook misal pav, a spicy concoction of cooked sprouts and fiery chillies, topped with farsan or sev, onions, lemon and coriander. It is usually served piping hot with bread or rolls toasted with butter, and is accompanied with buttermilk or curds and papad).

Speaking to The Times of India, Keer shared, “He was keen on trying Indian cuisine, so we particularly cooked Maharashtra’s local favorite misal pav. Collaborating with such a humble and passionate artist was a wonderful experience, marking an important day in my life.” Ed thoroughly enjoyed the spicy and tangy misal pav, declaring it his “new comfort food at home” and one of the highlights of his Indian food adventures so far.”

If we have got your curiosity piqued, and if you want to cook misal pav just the way Sheeran did, here are some tips from popular chefs Kunal Kapoor and Ranveer Brar who have added their own twist to the popular recipes.
