Revant Himatsingka, aka FoodPharmer, had a birthday that didn’t exist this year, at least, not on paper. Born on February 29, he only gets to celebrate once every four years, with his next actual birthday falling in 2028. Instead of a typical celebration, for the rest of the three years in between, what does he always do? He challenges what we believe about food and health.

A 24-Hour Digital Detox & A Hike

Instead of scrolling through birthday wishes, Revant went off the grid for 24 hours. He did not use social media or screens, just nature. He spent the day hiking in Morgiri, Maharashtra, a nod to his time in the US, where he hiked every weekend. He wanted his “birthday” to be about disconnecting from the noise and reconnecting with himself.

What else did he do for this occasion?

Witty Instagram Post

He posted a reminder that the so-called “healthy” foods we consume might not be as nutritious as they claim.

  • ORSl is not an ORS
  • Real Juice is not real

He also comically added that today’s Food Pharmer’s birthday is not actually the birthday.

From 2.34 Lakh Healthy Meals to a New Goal

Since the last leap year and his last celebrated birthday, Revant Himatsingka has provided children with around 2,34,000 nutritious mid-day meals. But this year, he’s shifting focus to protein literacy. His mission? To ensure underprivileged kids get protein-rich meals, tackling one of India’s biggest nutritional gaps.

An 8-Year-Old Video Resurfaces

In 2017, before he became ‘FoodPharmer, ‘ Revant posted an old video. Even back then, he was urging people to buy books, cut down on alcohol, and avoid junk food. The difference? Back then, no one listened. Now, millions do. His message remains the same, but the audience has finally caught up.

What’s Next?

  • Growing health literacy in schools – Teach kids the truth about what they eat.
  • Building our clean food brand -Bringing real, transparent food to Indian consumers.
  • Popularising the chaas drive across India – Promote this desi probiotic as a healthier alternative.
  • Expanding the label padhega India to include hair care, skin care, etc., will help people decode what’s in their beauty products.
  • Showcasing everyday Indians through Rethink India – Feature real stories of people who redefine health and wellness.

For Revant Himatsingka, it’s never just about food.

His journey may take time to bring change, but when it happens, it’s unstoppable.

So, the next time you pick up a so-called “healthy” product, ask yourself, “Is it really what it claims to be? FoodPharmer wants you to rethink this, and that’s the best birthday gift we can offer him.
