6 Emerging Micro Creators To Watch Out For This International Creators Day

Jawed Karim was just 26 when he shot a video at the San Diego zoo on April 23, 2005 and uploaded it to the fledgling streaming channel called YouTube of which he was co founder.

16 years later, the international community decided to mark April 23 as International Creators Day. Jawed has since grown. Literally. The Bangladeshi-German origin American software engineer and Internet entrepreneur personal YouTube channel now boasts 4.63 million followers and his iconic video has garnered 317 million views so far. Jawed has since moved on to bigger things. But his story is a reminder that small beginnings often make for great success stories.

The era of social content creators was launched by Jawed, and continues to grow. Millions of creators are leaving their 9-5s behind to pursue their passions full-time. Needless to say, the creator economy is booming!

On this special day, we take a look at upcoming Indian creators who are doing great work, we feel, but are still waiting for the spotlight to shine on them. 26 year old Sakshi from Guwahati believes in slow travel. And she takes you on picturesque journeys in the country’s north east with each of her well shot videos. She travels with friends, in groups or goes on solo trips, obviously enjoying herself. immensely on each journey, and managing to tempt you to do the same! The best part – she takes you to lesser known, un-touristy places which are breathtaking in their natural beauty. And introduces you to local cuisine. In the past, she has taken her followers along her Instagram journey to Varanasi as well, but the north east is her playground!

Amruta Mane – That girl on wheels

She calls herself a ‘business woman at the age of 21’. She’s a motorcycle coach, who started training women to ride scooters and bikes at a young age. And now is a mini celebrity herself, giving pep talks and conducting road safety sessions. Her vlogs are an inspiration to young women who want to scorch the roads. With their wheels but are held back by cultural obstacles. Happiest on her Enfield, she explores the country, capturing her travels on her Instagram.

Parinita Salian Crasta

Blogger Parinita Salian Crasta moved to Canada a few years ago, but her heart is firmly root in Mangalore. Even as she posts delectable pictures of spaghetti in mushroom sauce, sticky toffee puddings and vol-au-vents, she is worshipped by her followers for the traditional South Karnataka recipes that she unspools with painstaking care through her videos on Instagram. She’s not just creating reels that are a feast for the eyes, but is documenting for posterity the recipes she has learnt from her mother and grandmother – the Padengi Thetla da gassi, the Sajjige roti, the Sannas with Jivo roce, the Basale Kodhel…we could go on and on!
