From Korea to India

Dasom’s journey began in South Korea, but destiny had something far grander in store. At the tender age of five, she found herself on a plane to India with her mother, a yoga enthusiast who had been captivated by the magic of Indian philosophy. This wasn’t just a move; it was a leap of faith. Moreover, a decision fueled by love for a new land and its ancient wisdom.

Life, however, can be an unpredictable dance. Soon after arriving, Dasom’s world shifted when her father passed away. Her mother, ever the pillar of strength, decided to raise Dasom in the vibrant embrace of India. This decision proved to be the seed of Dasom’s extraordinary life.

India wasn’t foreign; it felt like home from the very start. The sights, sounds, and smells seeped into her soul. Here, she found solace and a way to express herself through the grace of classical dance forms like Bharatnatyam and Manipuri. Each movement became a conversation with her new reality. However, a way to weave her Korean spirit into the fabric of Indian culture.

Speaking Bengali Like A Native (& Some Hindi and Nagamese too)

But Dasom’s journey wasn’t limited to artistic expression. Her love for India went deeper. Shantiniketan, the idyllic educational haven established by Rabindranath Tagore, became her next stop. Here, at Patha Bhavana, a Bengali medium school, Dasom blossomed. Nestled under the open sky, surrounded by whispering trees. Besides, she discovered a love for Sanskrit and a profound appreciation for nature’s nurturing embrace.

Later, her Master’s degree in Social Work took her beyond the familiar. Venturing into rural India, Dasom witnessed a life lived in harmony with nature. The villagers’ simplicity, their connection to the land, and their ability to find joy in the everyday resonated deeply with her. This experience became a precious gem in her treasure chest of life lessons. Furthermore, reminding her of the beauty that lies in living simply and cherishing the little things.
