Yechan C. Lee/ Yechan Lee

Yechan C. Lee, widely recognized as Charlie, the “Korean Bihari boy,” is making waves on Instagram and YouTube! Yechan Lee, who grew up in Patna, Bihar, embraced Indian culture wholeheartedly and mastered Hindi and Bhojpuri accents, propelling him to viral stardom. This Korean sensation, infused with Bihari charisma and flair, has drawn in millions with his Bhojpuri-speaking reels. His path as a content creator had been a significant endeavor in the making. Despite filming the initial video in August 2020, he didn’t officially begin his YouTube account, 40Kahani—a variation on the term “Charlie’s Kahani”—until February 2022.

In 2015, he embarked on a journey from India to chase his college dreams in the United States. Years later, he made his way back to India to participate in an event in Hyderabad. He received a notification at the airport announcing the cancellation of the event. With no other plans in sight, he chose to return to Patna—the place he called home for two decades, where his parents still reside. To fill the hours, he teamed up with his school friend Prashant to craft some lighthearted vlog-style content purely for enjoyment. This is the beginning of the popular Korean-Bihari phenomenon on the internet.

Lee, who arrived in India as a one-year-old, appreciates the warmth and attention he is receiving from Indians online. His YouTube and Instagram videos frequently feature clips from India, which are highly entertaining, whether it’s him singing Hindi songs, selling South Korean food in India, or just exploring his hometown. He has 194K followers on the Gram and 80.9K subscribers on YouTube.
