Social media influencers are helping the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) make the city plastic-free Vizag. GVMC Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar praised their efforts and called them an inspiration to others.
Here’s what happened at the ‘Plastic-Free Vizag’ event in Andhra Pradesh!
Support from Influencers: Influencers from platforms like Vizag City Pages and Millennium Software Solutions joined the GVMC campaign to ban single-use plastics, which launched on January 1.
Awareness Campaign: Before banning single-use plastics, GVMC ran a 45-day campaign to educate people about eco-friendly alternatives.
Actress and influencer Pavani Karanam, known for her role in ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ attended the event as the chief guest.
The Commissioner said these influencers lead by example, encouraging others to care for the environment.
A 100-ft-long cloth banner with the message “Let’s Make Plastic-Free Vizag” was displayed.
A walkathon was organised from Matsya Darshini to the GVMC Sports Complex. Participants, including influencers and GVMC officials, cleaned the beach during the walk.
