Indian Olympians to Follow on LinkedIn - The Reelstars

The Paris Olympics are underway and will continue until 11 August 2024. With all the excitement that the Olympics bring, there’s a lot of hope for the Indian contingent this year. For the 2024 team, 117 Indian athletes are competing across 16 disciplines, the second-highest number of athletes from India to be participating at the Olympics. Out of these, 72 are making their debut at the Olympics. While a lot of them are present on other social media platforms. However, some of these Olympians share their behind-the-scenes experiences on LinkedIn. 

Here is a list of Indian Olympians whom you should follow on LinkedIn: 

PV Sindhu (Badminton)

PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu is a world champion badminton player who has won an Olympic medal twice. She is also the deputy collector for the government of Andhra Pradesh and is keen on Fitness training. Badminton Olympian is originally from Hyderabad, Telangana, and she has gained massive fame with her badminton skills. 

In the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, PV Sindhu won against Fathimath Nabaaha 21-9, 21-6, within 29 minutes in the opening match. She will next compete with Estonia’s Kristin Kuuba in her second group match on 31 July. 

Prannoy HS (Badminton)

Prannoy HS

Olympian Prannoy Haseena Sunil Kumar, also based in Hyderabad, Telangana, is an Athlete on the Indian badminton team. He won the Thomas Cup Champions 2022 and the Arjuna Awardee 2022. He secured bronze medals at the World Championships and Asian Games. 

In the Paris Olympics 2024, Prannoy forces Roth to spray his shot wide and finishes the match in 45 minutes.

Lovlina Borgohain (Boxing)

Lovlina Borgohain is an Indian Boxer and Olympian from Golaghat, Assam. She is a world champion, an Asian champion, and an Olympic bronze medalist. 

In Tokyo 2020, Lovlina won bronze in the welder weight category and was the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal. She also won a gold medal at the World Boxing Championships. Moreover, she’s India’s second woman boxer to win many at the Olympics after Mary Kom. 

Lovlina will be competing in the Paris Olympics again. 

Ashwini Ponnappa (Badminton)

Ashwini Ponnappa is an Indian Badminton Player based in Hyderabad. She’s won 2 Olympic medals and is a Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist as well as a World Championship Medalist. Surprisingly, she also works as an HR Manager at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. Ashwini represented Team India – Badminton at the Olympic Games, World Champions, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Badminton Asia Championships on multiple occasions. 

In the Paris Olympics 2024, Japanese Olympians Chiharu Shida and Nami Matsuyama defeated Indian Olympians Badminton Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto in their group stage match. 

Shiva Keshavan (Luge)

Shiva Keshavan

Shiva Keshavan is a six-time Olympian champion and the first Indian player to compete in Luge at the Winter Olympic Games. He has set a new Asian speed record of 134.3 km/h (83.5 mph) after breaking the earlier record of 131.9 km/h (82.0 mph) and bagged a gold medal in the 2011 Asian Luge Cup in Japan at Nagano. 

As a child, he won the Junior National Skin Championship in 1995 when he was 14. At 15, he attended a Luge camp held by world champion Gunther Lemmerer at his school. In 2020, the Luge Federation of India appointed Shiva Keshavan as the chief coach. Moreover, the High-Performance Director of the national luge team.
