India’s Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team are the new ICC U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup champions! The tournament occurred in Malaysia, and these young stars made the country proud.
Captain Niki Prasad led the charge, along with a talented squad featuring Kamalini G, Trisha Gongadi, Sanika Chalke, Ishwari Awasare, Mithila Vinod, Aayushi Shukla, Joshitha VJ, Shabnam, Parunika Sisodia, and Vaishnavi Sharma.
While they’ve shown their strength on the field, some of these players are also starting to grow on social media. They need our support. If we can celebrate Bollywood stars and influencers, why not these young cricketers?

October 25, 2005, is the day a fighter was born. Niki Siribhagwan Prasad, India’s U-19 captain. She wasn’t even supposed to be here initially because she wasn’t selected. Heartbroken but determined, she didn’t give up. And look at what she did: she led India to their second consecutive U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup victory in 2025. It was not just a win but a perfect campaign, with seven matches and seven wins. The final? A dominant 9-wicket win against South Africa at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur.
Sanika Chalke: Mumbai’s Run Machine
Sanika Chalke was born on January 23, 2006. She is no ordinary 16-year-old. She’s Mumbai’s famous cricket star, a batter who dominates domestic cricket. Her journey started in the gullies of Mumbai. Her father was her first coach, throwing balls at her when she was just seven. But it wasn’t just a childhood game for Sanika; she adored it. A local ladies’ tournament in her building changed everything. She scored runs for fun; her parents knew she was meant for more.

Trisha Gongadi: The Record-Breaking All-Rounder
Some players are good. Some are great. And then there’s Gongadi Trisha. Born on December 15, 2005, in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, she made history by becoming the first-ever centurion in the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Her cricket journey started with her father, a fitness trainer. He saw something special in her and didn’t just encourage her; he left his job and moved to Hyderabad to support her cricket dream. That’s how much he believed in her.
At just seven years old, she joined St. John’s Cricket Academy, and today, she is an all-rounder India can rely on. A right-handed batter, right-arm leg break bowler, and champion in two consecutive U-19 Women’s T20 World Cups.
Mitila Vinod: The Versatile Complete Cricketer
Born on September 2, 2005, Mithila Radhakrishnan Vinod is the definition of a complete cricketer. A right-handed batter, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, and a key player for India’s U-19 women’s team.
January and February 2025 saw her take on South Africa, England, Scotland, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and she left her mark. Her batting average is 25.00, and her strike rate is 147.05. She has also taken three wickets and has a bowling average of 38.33, numbers that prove she is a match-winner.
Mithila plays with heart. She has spoken about the emotions of wearing the Indian jersey, the pressure, the pride, the dreams. She was also part of the victorious U-19 Asia Cup squad.
Parunika Sisodia: The Wicket-Taking Warrior
If you follow Indian women’s cricket, you will often hear the name Parunika Sisodia in the coming years. A left-arm spinner from Delhi, born on September 1, 2005, she has already proven herself.
She was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. Her performances earned her a spot in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), where GG bought her for INR 10 lakh.
