Audio streaming platform Spotify has reported a big surge in the consumption of music in regional languages, with Malayalam leading the charge with a staggering growth rate of 5,300 per cent. This trend is indicative of a broader shift towards embracing local languages in the global music landscape, the company says as it completes five years of operations in India.

Spotify’s India-specific editorial playlists, such as Hot Hits Punjabi and Punjabi 101, have witnessed exponential growth and resonance worldwide. These curated playlists cater to the vibrant tastes of Indian audiences, contributing significantly to the platform’s expanding global footprint. From Telugu to Tamil, Punjabi to Hindi, Spotify is amplifying the voices of regional artists and genres.

Five Years And Growing

Celebrating its fifth anniversary in India, Spotify reflects on its transformative journey since its launch in the country. Over the past half-decade, Spotify has catalyzed a paradigm shift in global music consumption patterns. The platform has witnessed an impressive 85 percent year-on-year growth in the international consumption of Indian music, signaling a growing appetite for Indian sounds on a global scale, it says.

Her debut book, ‘Too Good to Be True ‘, is set to take the literary world by storm! Indian content creator turned actress Prajakta Koli is now an author. Though not published yet, she recently took to Instagram to ask her ‘DumDums’ for their opinion while finalizing the book cover for her forthcoming release.

From Scripts to Books:

Her journey from being an RJ to a successful content creator and now an author is a testament to her determination and passion. Born on 27 June 1993 in Thane, Prajakta’s career took a turn when she realized her true calling was not in radio but in creating comedy videos. Her channel, ‘Mostly Sane,’ launched on YouTube in February 2015, quickly gained popularity due to her energetic personality and family-friendly comedy content.

At the beginning of 2024, Prajakta extended an open invitation on Instagram to all writers interested in romance fiction. She announced an ‘interesting project’ she was working on and expressed her desire to collaborate with like-minded writers.  The recently concluded e4m Golden Mike Awards 2024 honoured and recognized brilliance in the radio and audio industry in India. Among the diverse categories was the one for “Influencer RJ of the Year.” Big FM’s RJ Naved and Fever’s Rahul Makin walked away with the honours.

RJ Naved urf Naved Khan is from Bugrasi, Uttar Pradesh and moved to Delhi for further studies. He’s an entertainer cum roaster. Furthermore, famous for his show ‘Dilli ka Don’ on Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM.
