Anantapur Police X Social Media Influencers to Fight Cybercrimes
Read how Andhra's Anantapur police roped social media influencers and educated them on cybercrimes, road safety, and drug abuse.
Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh held a special meeting on Thursday with local social media influencers, urging them to take the lead in spreading awareness and fighting Cybercrimes. The police believe digital creators, who already have a strong online following, can make a real impact by educating their audience.
How Social Media Helps in Fighting Cybercrimes
Social media connects people worldwide and is a hotspot for online scams, hacking, and cyberbullying. Due to a lack of awareness, many youngsters fall victim to online fraud.
SP Jagadeesh emphasised that police efforts alone are not enough. We can eventually mitigate this by working with influencers. The police department aims to educate people about online safety, digital scams, and responsible internet usage.
Road Safety Awareness is another Social Media Initiative
Every year, road accidents take thousands of lives in India. Many accidents happen due to reckless driving, lack of helmet usage, and ignoring traffic rules.
To address this, Anantapur police are encouraging influencers to create content around safe driving habits, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, and the dangers of drunk driving.
Drug Abuse is the Hidden Danger
Drug consumption is rising among youngsters, and social media can be a great way to educate them about its dangers. Influencers will share real-life stories, facts, and consequences of drug addiction to discourage drug use among youth.
Meet Two Influencers Who Took Charge Already
Several social media influencers from Anantapur have stepped forward to support this initiative. Some of them are:
Shivaram Thallapalle – A travel vlogger known for food reviews, budget travel, and nature exploration. With 53K YouTube subscribers and 121K Instagram followers, he uses his platforms to create awareness.
Sivaram Reddy – A nano influencer with 9K Instagram followers who makes reels on comedy, informative, and thought-provoking content. His engaging videos are helping spread key messages in a fun and easy-to-understand way.
In addition to them, many other influencers and brand promoters from Anantapur have joined this movement to make the internet and the real world safer.
A Model for Other States
Similar to the Uttar Pradesh government’s social media initiatives, Anantapur police are using local content creators to drive positive change. With more departments, districts, and states adopting such digital awareness programs, India could potentially be a safer and more responsible online and offline world. Social media is powerful; better use it wisely!
