Instagram DM Update: Edit Messages, Pin Chats, & More!

Calling all Instagram users! Get ready to experience a more personalized and convenient way to connect with your friends and followers through Direct Messages (DMs). Instagram has rolled out a bunch of exciting new features that are sure to improve your overall DM experience.

Edit Your Messages On Instagram (Finally!)

Ever sent a typo-ridden message or accidentally spilled your heart out before you were ready? Fear not, the message-editing gods have finally answered our prayers! Similar to WhatsApp, Instagram now allows you to edit a message within 15 minutes of sending it. Simply press and hold the sent message, and a “magic edit” button appears in the dropdown menu. Fix your flub and save yourself from potential embarrassment!

Pin Your Favorite Chats

Do you have certain conversations that you constantly need to access? Now you can keep your most important chats at the top of your inbox with the new “pinning” feature. Simply swipe left or tap and hold on the chat you want to pin, and voila! Up it goes to the top for easy access. You can pin up to three chats, making sure your close circle is always just a tap away.

Control Those Dreaded Read Receipts

Ever sent a message and agonized over that pesky “seen” notification? Well, fret no more! Instagram is giving you control over read receipts. You can now choose to turn them off for all your chats or just specific ones. This allows you to ghost in peace (we won’t judge!) or simply maintain a little more privacy in your messaging.

Spice Up Your Chats with More Personalization

Instagram is all about fun and self-expression, and now your DMs can reflect that too! You can now save your favorite stickers for easy access during conversations. Just press and hold the sticker you love, and it will be added to your “favorites” section. Additionally, new themes like “Love,” “Lollipop” (because why not?), and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” have been added for a splash of visual personality.

Bonus Feature: Threads Gets a Swipe-tastic Update

While not technically an Instagram feature, Meta’s separate messaging app Threads has also received a fun update. When scrolling through the “For You” tab, you can now express your appreciation for a post by swiping right, or simply swipe left to hide it. This gesture-based interaction adds a new layer of engagement within Threads.

So, there you have it! With these new features, Instagram DMs are poised to become an even more user-friendly and personalized way to connect with your online squad. Time to dive into your DMs and explore the exciting possibilities!
