Spotify’s Free Users Get a Shake-Up: New Restrictions in place, Premium Perks Locked

Spotify is shaking things up for its free users in India. They’ve decided to put some of the cool features behind the premium subscription paywall. If you’re a free user, you can say goodbye to playing songs in a specific order, repeating your favourite tracks, or tapping back to previous songs. These perks are now reserved for the Premium gang. But don’t worry, you can still enjoy your favourite artists, albums, playlists, and get song recommendations with the free version.

So, why the change? Spotify says the Indian market has matured, and it’s time to nudge users towards premium subscriptions. They want to keep improving the platform and offer a great experience for everyone. It’s worth noting that these free-tier restrictions now align with what Spotify offers in Brazil.

On the bright side, they’ve introduced a cool feature called Smart Shuffle, which suggests songs based on your taste and what you’re currently listening to. It was initially for subscribers but is now available to all Indian users. Enjoy the music!

And just in case you’re wondering, Spotify Premium plans in India start at ₹7/day, giving you ad-free music on mobile and the ability to download up to 30 songs on one mobile device. For ₹119/month, you can download up to 10,000 songs on 5 devices. Enjoy the tunes!
