Telegram Introduces New Features for Content Creators
Since its launch in August 2013, Telegram has grown exponentially, now boasting around 1 billion users—all achieved without a marketing budget. On the 11th Anniversary of Telegram on 14th August 2024, it launched exciting updates tailored for content creators, further enhancing their ability to monetize and engage with their audiences.
Introducing Star Reactions
Telegram users can now directly support their favorite content creators through the new Star Reactions. Users contribute directly to the channel’s success by sending Telegram Stars on channel posts. Channel admins receive 100% of these stars, which can be converted into Toncoin cryptocurrency rewards or used to subsidize ads. Toncoin is a cryptocurrency and the native token of The Open Network (TON), Telegram’s own blockchain project. A leaderboard highlights top senders, though users can opt out for privacy.
How to Enable Star Reactions:
- Go to Channel Settings.
- Select Reactions.
- Enable Paid Reactions.
Star Subscriptions
With Telegram Stars, content creators can now offer exclusive access to their channels via special invite links that require a monthly subscription. This feature is ideal for channels offering premium content, early access to media, or VIP live streams.
How to Create a Paid Subscription Link:
- Go to Channel Settings.
- Select Channel Type.
- Manage Invite Links.
- Create a new link and enable Require Monthly Fee.
Paid Media for Bots
Telegram is expanding its paid media options to include bots and Telegram Business accounts. Content creators can monetize their channels by posting paid photos and videos, opening up new avenues for automation, business growth, and sustainable services like image generation and video upscaling. Developers can explore the implications of this update for more advanced use cases.
Empowering Content Creators
Telegram charges almost zero commission on earnings, allowing developers and channel owners to maximize their rewards in Toncoin. Additionally, content creators receive a 30% discount if they choose to reinvest their earnings in promoting their channels through Telegram ads.
Introducing Super Channels
Starting August 14, 2024, Telegram channels will become even more dynamic. Admins can now choose to post as their personal profiles or even as another channel, making the channel experience more interactive, similar to a group chat. This feature offers admins the flexibility to remain anonymous or reveal their identity by posting with their profile.
How to Turn Your Channel into a Super Channel:
- Go to Channel Settings.
- Select Administrators.
- Enable Sign Messages and Show Authors’ Profiles.
New Document Viewer for iOS
Telegram’s iOS browser now allows users to open documents like PDFs, .xls, or .docx files in separate tabs. This feature makes it easier to switch between files and chat messages seamlessly.
These are the new features of Telegram for content creators to explore and earn directly from users on their Telegram channels.
