Unlocking Threads: Meta’s Zuckerberg Celebrates 130 Million Monthly Users
In a recent revelation, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared exciting news about Threads, Meta’s answer to Twitter. According to a report from AdAge, Threads has seen remarkable growth since its summer launch, surpassing initial download surges.
During Meta’s quarterly conference call, Zuckerberg spilled the beans, announcing that Threads now boasts over 130 million monthly users—a significant milestone for the app.
In the same breath, Zuckerberg delved into Meta’s grand Artificial Intelligence (AI) plans and their impact across the company. The report also shed light on Meta’s impressive fourth-quarter ad revenue, soaring by 24% and hitting $38.7 billion.
Threads is more friendly than X, hints Zuckerberg
Zuckerberg didn’t shy away from hinting at Threads’ politeness in comparison to its rival, X (formerly Twitter) owned by the outspoken billionaire Elon Musk. He subtly suggested that Threads cultivates a more friendly user base, steering away from the more direct and candid conversations often associated with Musk’s X.
“I’m optimistic that we can keep the pace of improvement and growth going [on Threads]. And show that a friendly, discussion-oriented app can be as widely used as the most popular social apps,” expressed Zuckerberg.
Moreover, he emphasized the growing role of AI in businesses, foreseeing a future where customers interact with AI for purchasing goods and seeking support.
The Metaverse continues to beckon
Despite the upbeat report, Meta faced challenges as Reality Labs, the metaverse-focused division led by Zuckerberg, incurred losses. Nevertheless, Zuckerberg maintains his optimism about the potential synergy between AI and the metaverse.
As Threads continues to weave its way into social app prominence, Zuckerberg’s vision for a friendly and engaging platform gains momentum in the competitive landscape. The rise of Threads not only marks a success for Meta but also reinforces the growing influence of user-friendly, discussion-oriented apps in the social media arena.
